The supply is tight! Carbon black giant raised price by 15%

  Bora Carbon Black, a global carbon black giant, announced on May 16 that it would increase the price of all carbon black products produced in North America. The price increase will take effect from July 1, up to 15%, and applies to all shipments on or after that day. Bora Carbon Black said that the increase in materials, freight, logistics and operating costs was the key reason for the price increase. Bora Carbon Black is currently the world's largest manufacturer and supplier of high-quality carbon black additives, with a complete portfolio of carbon black products. It is worth noting that since April this year, the international carbon black giants have issued several notice of price increase. Cabot has raised the carbon black price by 18%, and some carbon varieties of the German Orilon project have increased by as much as 30%.

  According to the industry analysis, apart from the cost reasons, the price increase announced by Bora is also related to the current tight supply of international carbon black. At present, due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the supply of carbon black in Europe is still tight. Affected by this, the export orders of carbon black in India, China and North America are also strong.

 In the short term, there is still no sign of the end of the Russian Ukrainian conflict. Under the situation of tight carbon black supply in Europe, high international crude oil prices and weak RMB exchange rate, carbon black exports are more favorable. It is expected that carbon black export orders will remain positive in the short term. In addition, since April, the price of the domestic carbon black market has also risen significantly, and the price of the mainstream carbon black market in the second quarter has risen by 10%. Driven by the double advantages of higher prices and strong export demand, the profitability of domestic carbon black enterprises is expected to improve.
