Reaction properties:

    Silicon tetrachloride, also known as silicon chloride, is colorless, transparent, low viscosity liquid, flammable and asphyxiating. Because the silicon chloride bond of this product has strong polarity, it can react violently with nucleophiles and release hydrogen chloride gas.
    For example, in contact with water, it will react violently, release a lot of heat, hydrolyze to produce silicic acid, release hydrogen chloride and produce smoke; React with ammonia to produce silylamine; React with ethanol or phenol to form silicate ester
.


Storage conditions:

    Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated warehouse.  Keep away from kindling and heat sources.
    The package must be sealed and free from moisture.


Applications:

    It is widely used in the manufacture of silicone compounds, such as silicate esters, organic silicone oils, high-temperature insulating paints, silicone resins, silicone rubber and heat-resistant lining  materials.
    High purity silicon tetrachloride is the material for manufacturing  polycrystalline silicon, high-purity silicon dioxide, inorganic silicon  compounds and quartz fibers.

   
It is an essential chemical raw material in  large-scale industrial production.
